Are Pit Bulls Dangerous--Maybe To Themselves...lol
by Robert Simpson
I have a rescued fighter, his name is Beacephus - but everybody calls him Beau. I found Beau one day on the side of the road in front of my house, half dead. He was bloody, muddy, skinny, his ears had been chopped off with an axe,and he had the sweetest look in his eyes as he wagged his tail just a little. That was all the strength he had. I fell in love instantly and forever. I picked him up, he could not walk ,and carried him home. Me and the vet managed to save him, he was a pretty sick boy with big open wounds. He then had to go through three heartworm treatments, he had stage 3 heartworms. I say all this, because now Beau is the goofiest, clumsiest, sweetest happiest, clown of a dog I have ever known. He loves everyone he comes in contact with and just assumes they love him too. Did I mention clumsy? The neighborhood children want to know if Beau can come out and play. They giggle as he passes out big sloppy bulldog kisses in greeting them. Are they supervised? Of course, as I would any dog playing with a large group of children. Do I trust Beau with them? Completely. I cry some nights, as he snuggles up to me in bed, knowing what Beau has suffered, but my heart sings knowing that he has forgiven us. Are pit bulls dangerous? Only to themselves. But I'm the lucky one, I have the honor of Beau calling me Daddy. And I know he has become the dog I saw in his eyes that wonderful day Beau came into my life.
