Juvie-D's Pit bull
by Juvie-D
My name is Rob Stewart, better known by my stage name "Juvie-D". I am a hip hop artist from the Kensington area of Philadelphia. Like most areas of Philly, Kensington has a bad pit bull fighting problem. Since I was a young boy I have always admired pits. What I like most about the breed is the love and loyalty. So when I felt my 4 year old son was ready for a dog, the choice of breed was a no-brainer. Finally we rode down to the Philadelphia SPCA, we walk in the dog section and its was so depressing, well over 80% of the inmates were pits. First we walked around to see how the dogs would react to my son, the first dog we seen was a beautiful white and brown pit bull, the tag said aggressive, but me being me, I put my hand in the area he was sitting, he jumped up and bit my shirt, and after petting him I noticed that he was a little nippy but mainly wanted to play. Still I wanted to see the other dogs. So after hours of taking the dogs out to the "play area" (on purpose just to give the dogs a little time to play) we had to make our tough decision. Then out of the corner of my eye locked inside of a cage was a playful pit, she seen my son and jumped with joy, she was putting her paw under the cage and jumping around to get our attention. Her name was "JaJa Binx" (later we changed it to "Jah-Jah"). I took her out she was hyper, very hyper (still is) but when she came right over and sat with us and showed her loyalty. After a small fee and a little bit of paperwork we bailed her out and loaded her in the car. As were driving this big pup kept kissing us and laying her head on us. All she needed was positive attention. She knew she was going home and was showing her appreciation. Now she is a part of the family, very protective of my son, LOVES to play, even wrestles! I am a proud pit bull owner, and yes I trust her completely around my son. She gets along well with other dogs, and her loyalty to my family is second to none. Please if you are going to consider a pet, before you listen to mainstream media's bullshit about pit bulls, go visit a pit bull, spend some time with the dog and I guarantee you will never find a more lovable pet. And remember you don't need to pay a lot of money for a beautiful pit, there are pit bulls at almost EVERY SPCA, breeders are unneeded, and get your dog fixed to help prevent future pits from being euthanized. There is no shortage of pits, no need to breed!
