Miss Mollie- the "social lady"
by Amanda
Ok,OK I know... a pit bull on Santa’s lap is a little much but you have to hear her story! Mollie stole our hearts one September afternoon. She and her 3 brothers were on the side of the road in a box being...uhum "sold". Since we had been talking for months about getting a pit, they caught my husband's eye and the next thing I knew our car was on two wheels spinning around to rescue the sweet girl. We were told she was plenty old to be away from her mom despite our skepticism (which we later found to be correct). 5 minutes later she was in my lap on our way home as our shih tzu Jack sniffed her curiously. Fast forward 1 year: Mollie is now an irreplaceable part of our family she has adapted well and is an amazing companion to our other furry child Jack (shih tzu).... yes we have a pit bull and a shih tzu! The most amazing thing about Mollie is her social demeanor. From the day she had all the shots necessary she began to go to a local puppy camp a couple days a week. It is an open community where there are no cages and no leashes. Because of local ordinance laws the only reason she is allowed in the camp is because she started so young. She has grabbed the hearts of everyone there, human and canine alike. They even use her for temperament tests for future campers! This Christmas Santa came to camp and Mollie of course had to take part in the pictures. Her socialization has been such an important part of our training. She constantly goes on car rides and experiences new places. My suggestion to anyone looking to get a pit would be this: - know your breed and be a good parent - socialize young and as much as possible - the more you love them, the more they love back!
