My two cents

Why is there such a witch hunt mentality towards these animals? I truly don't get it, seems only the backwoods idiots and thugs that fight them are the ones who keep ruining the image of our breed.

I'm a proud pittie owner 3 yrs now. I owned rotties before and received quite a bit of discrimination and racism against my breed of choice but it was only when I got my rescued bait dog that I truly understood the real level of ignorance there is in the world though I shouldn't be surprised. We still have race issues in 2010 so why wouldn't that carry over to a media demonized breed?

In the wrong hands i.e. irresponsible owners, dog fighters and dog abusers any animal can be made dangerous. Are they born that way? NO. Do they enjoy fighting or being trained to be mean. NO.

If people took the time to do research and really investigate they would see ITS NOT THE DOGS. Sure there are the rare cases of neurological problems and hereditary problems that ALL ANIMALS are susceptible to, but the media portrays these things as UNIQUE to the power breeds.

I'm not a thug or backwoods idiot. I'm a college graduate. I pay taxes and work hard for everything I have. It is my right as an AMERICAN to own any dog I please as long as I am RESPONSIBLE for it. I don't appreciate being grouped in a category with dog fighters or macho people needing to feel powerful through their dogs. I assure you I can kick ass myself I don't need an animal to do it for me.

I like large dogs--always have, always will. And if I want to own a pit bull I will. My rescue is one of the best dogs I've ever owned. But if you don't take the time to know her how will you ever know?

So you hate pitties for being pitties, Do you judge people like that as well? You cannot judge the actions of 300,000 dogs for the actions of 200 and their irresponsible owners.
