Vida My Staffordshire Terrier

I got Vida when she was 5 wks old. Had to bottle feed her an also hand feed her. She is so spoiled and my best friend. I moved almost 2 yrs ago to my apartment which I have to move from now because my landlord no longer wants pits in his building!!

Well since I moved here Vida has been attacked 6 times by other dogs because their owners let them!! She used to love being around other dogs, her best friend was a gray cat she adopted (really). Now she can't be around other dogs because she wants to fight them before they try to hurt her first.

I try so hard to show her that not all dog owners and there dogs are bad but they keep proving me wrong!!!! I WANT MY OLD VIDA BACK, THE DOG THAT GOT ALONG WITH ALL DOGS AN EVEN CATS!!!! She is my granddaughter LaNeya's best friend, and she loves my kids and she even loves my boyfriend Daniel,who I love with all my heart. And he loves her more then I could have hoped for. Vida is going to be turning 4 yrs old on June 1st can't wait....

Irresponsible owners

My pitty Brenna has the same issue! Shes 19 months old & has been attacked 3 times by other dogs so now she immediately tries to defend herself when meeting a new dog. So sad, all because or irresponsible owners.

Do any of your friends have dogs? It may be best to reintroduce her to dogs who you already know, that way you are comfortable with the because you know the owner won't let his/her dog attack. Since this has happened 6 times you may be unconciously nervous when other dogs come around and she may be picking up on that and reacting. If you are around a dog you know is nice, you have nothing to be nervous about and it may help her when you are calm.

Also, does she meet other dogs free or on leash? If she's been attacked on the leash, she may feel more on edge because she knows she has no where to go if a dog does decide to attack, so she feels she has to attack first. My dog was like that. I just had to walk him with dogs he knew, and when he met a strage one, I'd just tell him to be nice and when he didn't show teeth and started wagging his tail, I petted him and told him he was good.

We started taking Sera to the dog parks when she was about 14 weeks old. She LOVED it. She could do the low-butt zoomies in wide open spaces and it made her little pibble heart happy. But then other dogs started trying to dominate her, then they started getting really aggressive and then they would flat out maul her. You could see it in her face that she was freaked out and just didn't understand WHY they were behaving like this to her. It turned out that we had to quite taking her to the local dog parks because other people were not enforcing manners or wuld just say, "its because she's young" or "thats just what dogs do". They had to go and ruin it for us. Sera was alwasy well behaved. She was more concerned with the zoomies or chasing sticks really then interacting but when she did, she wanted them run with her, not bet her up.

Hi that is a sad story my buddah (also pit) is 6 yrs old i have had hime since he was 9months. He is so lovable & sweet loves people & kids & use to like other dogs to. He got attached by a great
peranese which is a huge dog he was hurt badly bites all over staples in his back. after that he wasn't the same either he thinks every dog is out to hurt him. when i walk him he tries to go after every dog he see's it is change i had to accept & have to be strong to handle him. But we do good on our walks i just hold him tightly when we see a nother dog good luck with your baby.

YES I GET NERVOUS WHEN I SEE OTHER DOGS CAN'T HELP IT WITH ALL SHE HAS BEEN THRU WITH ALL THE TIMES SHE HAS BEEN ATTACKED AN YES I DO TRY AN HAVE HER AROUND OTHER DOGS BUT IT NEVER WORKS OUT RIGHT.BUT STILL TRYING.... THANK YOU EVERYONE....

How could your dog get attacked 6 times??? Do you not keep her on a lead when around other dogs? Proper training and handling are key for all dogs. There is no reason for a dog to be attacked 6 times. You are either bringing your dog to the wrong places, or just a terrible owner. You have made your pup afraid of other dogs. Re-socialize her at a slow pace, or you are going to have problems for the rest of her life. I feel bad for this dog you have let get attacked so often!

TRAUMA ON THURSDAY

WELL THURSDAY STARTED OUT GREAT, THEN VIDA GOT SO EXCITED ABOUT A FLY SHE SAW AN STARTED CHASING IT AROUND THE HOUSE,THEN IT HAPPENED SHE RAN DOWN THE HALL AFTER THE DAMN FLY AN WENT RIGHT THRU MY PORCH WINDOW AN GOT SLICED UP REAL BAD! SPENT HOURS AT THE MSPCA WITH HER THEN HAD TO WAIT MORE HOURS WHILE SHE WAS IN SURGERY, COULDN'T STAY CALM FOR NOTHING AN I BLAME MYSELF FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO HER! I FEEL I DIDN'T DO A GOOD ENOUGH JOB AT MAKING SURE SHE WAS SAFE AN NOW SHE IS WALKING AROUND WITH A CONE ON HER HEAD, AN ON PAIN MEDS AN CAN'T SLEEP LIKE SHE WANTS TO BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE STITCHES ON BOTH HER LEGS HER STOMACH, HER EAR, AN HER FACE . I DIDN'T DO A GOOD ENOUGH JOB AS HER MOMMY TO PROTECT HER FROM HARM, NOW SHE IS SCARED OF THE PORCH AN I FEEL SHE BLAMES ME. BUT I KNOW SHE WILL GET BETTER ON THE OUTSIDE BUT EMOTIONALLY I DON'T KNOW. SHE'S MY BABY GIRL AN I LOVE HER FOREVER AN EVER....

AN YES I KEEP TRYING TO INTRUDUCING HER TO OTHER DOGS AGAIN ,BUT IT NEVER TURNS OUT THE WAY I WAS HOPING BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T LIKE PITBULLS EVEN AT DOG PARKS WHERE ALL DOGS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE FROM ATTACKS,BUT SOME OWNERS JUST DON'T CARE.
