White Pit Bull

Blanca is a lovely white pit bull with fawn spots on her ears. I adopted her from a shelter where I worked when she was a 4 month old puppy. She is now 10 years old. I can only hope that I age as gracefully. You can read more about how we met on this page.

I didn't know much about pit bulls when I got her. I just thought she was beautiful and sweet. She was one of those dream dogs who caught on to "doing her business" in the yard almost from day 1. And, the fact that I could take her to work with me helped us bond very strongly.

It's hard to pick one endearing quality because she has several. But, I suppose one of the things I appreciate most is the way she tunes in to human emotion. She knows when someone is sad or happy. And, she meets people where they are.

One of the funniest things she's ever done, was to eat an entire coconut cake in about five minutes flat! We were having company over for dinner and we left the kitchen for a few minutes. And, came back to find the paper doily that had been underneath the cake sitting on the floor--and no cake! Ok, it was naughty. It happened several years ago and she's not done anything like it since. But, my husband and I still laugh about it.
